Why do Muslims always say the Koran (qur'an) is about peace?

Not all of the Qu'ran is about war and jihad (not to be confused with hirabah/terrorism). The Meccan suwar tend to be fairly peaceful. The Medinan ones (the violent bits) were only written when Muhammad went from being a prophet alone to being a warrior statesman.
